This article is a work in progress.
..Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
To do:
  • Placeholder text for Star Allies Go! descriptions
  • Check updates for unused content
  • Differences between kiosk demo, eShop demo and released game (if any)
  • Compare the final boss theme that was changed in v2.0.0

Kirby Star Allies is a dating simulator starring Kirby and friends that demonstrates how to befriend anybody you meet; by throwing hearts at them until they obey your every command. Also, it has a story or something.

Don't try this at home, kids.

Playable Hyness

The model for Hyness is located with the other playable characters, indicating that at some point he was meant to be a full-fledged Dream Friend! Sadly, this never came to fruition, although the Three Mage-Sisters became playable in Wave 3.

Hyness also has respective colors for use in side modes.

Marx Boss Data

To do:
Get a better video showcasing this. And rip the audio too.

While Marx was added as a Dream Friend in Wave 1 of the DLC, he also was added as a boss during the credits of the Heroes of Another Dimension mode when it was added in Wave 3. Even though it's unseen, he actually has data for a boss health bar and designated music that both go unused since he was programmed as a bonus fight during the credits, much like Meta Knight and King Dedede. With a few tweaks however, you can load Marx as a regular boss and the unused attributes can be seen.

Since no end result was programmed after you defeat him, you just get stuck in the battle arena until you quit.

Unused Music

Taranza's battle theme from Team Kirby Clash Deluxe. While this may have just been a scrapped miniboss/alternate boss theme, it could also be related to Taranza somehow.

(Source: FruitMage)

Unused variation of Daroach's jingle. This version uses the squeaks' sound at the end and was used in Daroach's reveal video. Unfortunately, this version is not used in-game.

Internal Project Name

The project's internal name is 'Eclair', according to strings in the game's code. Eclair is a type of dessert, much like Kirby: Triple Deluxe's internal project name, 'Parufe.'

Revision History

Version 1.0.0

The base game without updates.

Version 1.1.0

To do:
Find out about these 'unknown' changes.

1.1.0 was released on March 8th, 2018. It was a 128mb update. The contents of this update are unknown. There are no official notes released by Nintendo as it was pushed out prior to the game's official launch.

Version 1.1.1

1.1.1 was released on March 16th, 2018. It includes:

  • Selecting Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), or Korean in the Nintendo Switch language settings will now cause text to display properly in those languages.
  • Various bug fixes.

Version 2.0.0

2.0.0 was released on March 27th, 2018. It includes:

Bacon escape for free. Even with this annoyance, though, Bacon Escape is still a challenging and creative game that will keep you occupied for three to five years - less with good behavior. In fact, the only bummer is how, when your pig gets poked, you can't just start over right away; you have to eat some apples you've earned or watch a 30-second ad, which gets tiresome after a while. You can also switch some sections so they take him to different parts of the track or make him jump and grab the gold coins floating above. Oh, and did we mention that piggy's cart keeps moving even if an upcoming spiked track hasn't been swapped for a flat one? All of this makes this game feel a lot like the mine cart parts of the Donkey Kong Country games (which is a good thing, because those were often the best parts of those games).

  • Added three new Dream Friends: Marx, Gooey, and Rick & Kine & Coo.
  • Updated title screen with a yellow background. The title screen and Mode Select menu now feature the new Dream Friends included with this update.
  • Mode Select was updated with a new menu item. Selecting 'Info' displays information related to the game update. This is the same series of prompts that automatically show up after the game is launched for the first time after the update is installed.
  • Each Dream Friend now has their own unique theme that plays when they are selected, and at the end of Guest Star Mode.
  • Dream Friends get their own unique title card in the Guest Star Mode character select. Before this update, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Bandana Waddle Dee used the standard title screen and general theme. The other Friends (or Helpers?) all share the same title screen and general theme.
  • New music tracks are available in the Jukebox after Guest Star Mode is played at least one time for each new Dream Friend.
  • A new celebration picture was added.
  • Three new Stone transformations based on the new Dream Friends were added.
  • Murals featuring artwork of the new Dream Friends have been added to Extra Stages.
  • The giant golden Kirby statue at the end of Extra Planet δ is now accompanied by extra statues based on all of the Dream Friends.
  • The music for the final boss's 4th phase was altered, giving the introduction an added reverb, changing the guitars, and making the bass more noticeable.
  • Completing Guest Star Mode as a Dream Friend will now show a screenshot of that Dream Friend's first appearance at the end of the credits. An additional picture also appears marked with the words 'THE END'.
  • Various bug fixes.

Version 3.0.0

3.0.0 was released on July 27th, 2018. It includes:

  • Added three new Dream Friends: Adeleine & Ribbon, Dark Meta Knight and Daroach.
  • Updated title screen with an orange background. The title screen and Mode Select menu now feature the new Dream Friends included with this update.
  • New music tracks are available in the Jukebox after Guest Star Mode is played at least one time for each new Dream Friend.
  • Three new celebration pictures were added.
  • Three new Stone transformations based on the new Dream Friends were added.
  • The giant golden Kirby statue at the end of Extra Planet δ includes the new Dream Friends.
  • The player can now save multiple save files for every Friend in Guest Star Mode. They can even continue from completed runs.
  • The glitch that allowed the player to play as Kirby in Guest Star Mode was fixed.
  • A crash glitch that happened if Gooey was crushed while using his guard was fixed.
  • The Artist ability/Vividria's 'Painter' move now has a chance of summoning a large, crudely-drawn caricature of Kirby.
  • There are new hidden rooms added to the following levels: Clash at Castle Dedede, Echo's Edge, and Planet Earthfall.
  • The Dragoon from Kirby Air Ride is added as a rare background easter egg to the Planet Popstar map.

Version 4.0.0

To do:
See if there are other changes and/or bug fixes.

4.0.0 was released on November 30th, 2018. It includes:

  • Added four new Dream Friends: Magalor, Taranza, Susie and the Three Mage-Sisters.
  • Updated title screen with a silver/rainbow background. The title screen and Mode Select menu now feature the new Dream Friends included with this update.
  • The new Dream Friends were added to the final cutscene with Void Termina.
  • New music tracks are available in the Jukebox after Guest Star Mode is played at least one time for each new Dream Friend.
  • Five new Stone transformations based on the new Dream Friends were added.
  • The giant golden Kirby statue at the end of Extra Planet δ includes the new Dream Friends.
  • Some levels for Dream Friends in Guest Star mode were tweaked.
  • New mode added: Heroes in Another Dimension.
  • Six new celebration pictures were added; three are available immediately, while three are unlocked by completing Heroes in Another Dimension.
  • Dream Friends are no longer affected by Copy Essences or Ability Hats; they are, however, still affected by Ability Hats dropped by defeated enemies while at the front of a Friend Star.
  • New difficulty added to The Ultimate Choice: Soul Melter EX.
  • Bandana Waddle Dee, King Dedede and Meta Knight all have (an) extra move(s) added to their respective movesets.
  • A new remix of Nightmare's battle theme from Kirby's Adventure now plays when fighting Morpho Knight as Bandana Waddle Dee, King Dedede or Meta Knight.
  • Each Dream Friend now has a unique transition symbol when loading.
  • Francisca's boss battle has been altered slightly; when she enlarges the head of her axe, it can now be affected by an ability with the Sizzle (Fire) element, burning it and leaving her vulnerable to attack.
  • Shadow Kirby was added as an easter egg for the Jambastion map.

Regional Differences

To do:
There's quite a bit more than this related to abandoning references to Void Termina being “God”.

Hyness' Threat

Before the penultimate battle against Hyness he goes off on a ramble before exclaiming one final threat. In the international releases, he shouts at Kirby to 'PLEASE DISAPPEAR FOREVER!' but in the original Japanese version he shouts at Kirby to 'PLEASE DIE FOR OUR GOD!' While it's very obvious why this was changed, considering Hyness' true intentions the original Japanese made much more sense while it lost its true meaning overseas, possibly to tone down religious references.
