If you read our review of than you probably know that I love a good empire building game. There’s something great about taking your tribe of people from their early roots to conquering the world. The only downside of those games is the incredibly long playtime they have.

You’d be lucky to be able to get an empire building game played in under 3 hours. That’s where our newest Kickstarter of the Week comes in. Is a stand alone sequel to the well received Eight Minute Empire game.

Eight-Minute Empire is billed as a quick area control game with some tough decisions. While the game probably takes more than 8 minutes to play, general consensus says you can get a game played in about 8-20 minutes. Still an impressive feat for a full game.

I should also add that the artwork in the game is very well done and hand painted by the designer. In fact, the whole game company is a one man operation. Besides designing Eight-Minute Empire: Legends, Ryan of Red Raven Games is currently illustrating it, writing the rules, working with the printer, coordinating shipping, answering emails, and promoting the game. He says it’s a lot of work but very rewarding! From the Kickstarter Page:Eight-Minute Empire: Legends is a standalone sequel to Eight-Minute Empire and does not require the original game to play. Just like the original board game, players take turns selecting a card from six displayed. The card has an action that the player takes immediately, and actions help players take over the map. But what is new and different in this version?.
